5 Summertime Festivals in New Jersey
Summer is a time to get outside and have some fun! Festivals always bring back memories of funnel cakes, family, rides, and laughs! Here are some of the top festivals to go to in New Jersey that haven’t passed yet for 2018.
Long Branch, July 4
Looking for a festival on 4th of July, Oceanfest is the biggest seasonal event on the Jersey Shore. Crowds gather every year since 1990 to enjoy an all-day fun, family friendly festival in Long Branch, New Jersey. Start the adventure with a stroll on the famous beach fronts and boardwalks. Then, enjoy performances by dancers, musicians, clowns, etc. Along with craft sales and street fairs, enjoy amazing food from vendors and local restaurants. Look at spectacular sand sculpture and meet familiar costumed characters. There is plenty of activities for children to enjoy such as face painting, KidsZones, and Children Magic Shows. End the day with a gorgeous display of fireworks.
Wildwood, July 13 - 15
Think your barbecue is the best in the state? Enter your barbecue into the NJ State Barbecue Championship and see if New Jersey agrees with you. Not a cook? Come and indulge in some mouth-watering barbecue. You could also learn from the pitmaster Big Moe Cason and BBQ Bob, who have competed all over the United States for their barbecue. From ribs and chicken, to pork this festival will satisfy your hunger for barbecue. Admission to this event is free. Enjoy all the barbecue foods you can eat and listen to live music from blues bands.
Readington, July 27 - 29
QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning holds a dual distinction for The New Jersey Governor's Award for Best Special Event. This festival is held at Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ and flies over 100 special shape and sport hot air balloons. Along with this spectacular balloon flights and rides is concerts, family entertainment, hundreds of crafters and vendors, great food, fireworks, and more.
Belvidere, July 28 - August 4
Did you miss the last balloon festival above? Check out this other Balloonfest in New Jersey along with it’s famous Farmers Fair. Warren County is celebrating it’s 81st annual Farmers Fair featuring Demolition Derbys, Diesel Trucks and Tractor Trailer Pulls, Mud Bogs, livestock exhibits, flower shows, baking contests, miniature horse shows, pie eating contests, miniature goat shows, and so much more. There are also arts and craft vendors throughout the fairground. This festival is family friendly with lots of activities for kids including carnival rides and contests kids can compete in. They can also enjoy the mass balloon launch and tethered balloon rides. At the fair, there is a Fair Queen and Princess contest, the winner gets to be in the parade.
Atlantic City, August 22
Summer time isn’t over yet! Presented by GEICO, the Atlantic City Airshow is free to the public. Watch the amazing airshow of planes, jets, and other aviation vehicles from the beach and boardwalk. Performers include The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, The Thunder, U.S. Army Golden Knights, and GEICO Skytypers. During the performances don’t miss Miss GEICO, the Eight-Time World Offshore Racing Champion race boat. When the performance is over, feel free to enjoy Atlantic City’s casinos and restaurants.
